Is lasik surgery that safe? Could it be that the risks are understated? The answers to the above questions would have demanded many more decades of research to find out the effects. Current information sharing technology however now allow for easy sharing of knowledge on the potential risks.

  • Long term effects such as interference with the intraocular pressure will affect the rest functions of the eye. It becomes difficult to detect conditions such as glucoma which rely on these eye structures or features.
  • Lower quality of vision – this is a result of inference with the retina or the cornea.

There certain steps that you can take to prevent this complication:

  1. Know if you are eligible for lasik surgery: You avoid these by keeping to the rules such as being over 18 years, not pregnant or lactating and being on good health. .
  2. Read a little more on lasik surgery: You will be surprised just how little information can reduce the complications that face through the procedure. There are adequate reading materials from interest and other physicians.
  3. Work with professionals – This reduces the chances for making mistakes. It also relates to the willingness to invest the appropriate doctors’ fee. When the deal is cheap, you need to think twice.
  4. Use alternative methods such as PRK which do not involve cutting of the flaps.
